Borders

Commentary
These Iraqi women covered a model of their country with a net symbolizing how the children of their country were captive to international politics, sanctions were restricting aid and it was children who suffered the most. Photographs and leaflets in the area showed the plight of sickly children.
Imaginary lines drawn on maps by kings and generals become impassable borders impacting the lives of ordinary people, often keeping them in harm's way. I found myself wondering what role Borders would have in a world where women had even only a substantial role in determining such things. I tried to imagine where the Borders might be if women and men were equal partners in managing our world's resources; my imagination failed me.
