Womentown was connected via the 'Information Super Highway' thought for many it only took us home to an 'Information cul-de-sac'. The ability to share information was key in bringing together the 30,000 women who formed Womenstown. We were able to plan events and organise meetings, lobby for consideration of this issue and that. We initiated actions and developed adgendas the repercussions of which reverberate through out communityoed to thid day. Still it seemed surprising and surreal to see a room full of women getting on line; it was exciting and we had no thought of the call centers of the future. Looking back it seems obvious that the internet would shift work from the developed world to developing ecomomies to exploit workers less able to bring their plight to the consumers they serve.
